Stop Walking on Eggshells: Secrets of Limit Setting – Randi Kreger – YouTube

An interesting talk on setting boundaries (Phrased in the talk as limits). The talk is sound advice for anyone, even outside of the context of Personality disorders. The same advice can be applied in the work context, although slightly differently. Take away points from this are the five C’s she mentions, but also that one would benefit from giving consideration to what one’s own personal boundaries are pro-actively. Also something which is fundamental is that one needs to take responsibility for oneself, it isn’t possible to take responsibility for the actions, emotions or words of another, and this falls well into the scope of setting achievable goals. I recognize that actually practicing what she suggests would take some practice, but the pay off seems well worth the effort. Among the benefits are the enrichment of a sense of control over one’s own emotions, a sense of of being enabled. Taking responsibility for oneself is a very empowering thing to do.
